Okay, so this game was repeatedly spamming my ads while I was playing other mobile games, with a simple but breathtaking interface. I didn’t know anything about the gameplay mechanics or any potential story SOULS had to offer, but I finally gave in to my curiosity and played it.

To my surprise, I dropped the game I was playing (King God Castle, highly recommend it by the way) and focused on Souls.

What is Souls (Habby) Mobile Game?

SOULS is a low fantasy Auto Chess/Gacha game compiled with stunning graphics and animations. From the dynamic menu switching to Hero animations, this game has every kind of graphical appeal going for it.

The subtle slow-moving travel animations of your companions in the main menu give you a feeling of calmness between battles in the primary campaign and associated dungeons such as Cave of Abyss and Tower of Souls.

As a Gacha game, the aim is to build up your team of Heros by summoning them using SOULS’s premium currency to obtain powerful epic heroes, which must be re-summoned to power them up even further to reach higher stages, coupled with runes, equipment, and engraving to achieve the highest combat power possible.

Should You Play SOULS?

If you’re a fan of Gacha or auto-chess games, yes, you should definitely try SOULS if you haven’t already! The gameplay is fun; it looks incredible and performs well on modern devices.

The summons are generous with Epic Hero pulls (in my experience), so you always feel like you are progressing when you have accumulated some resources.

Unlike many other games in this category, SOULS doesn’t try to throw microtransactions in your face every minute, which is very refreshing considering the current mobile gaming ecosystem.

Combat

The combat is more typical of your auto-chess battle system. You place up to 5 Heroes in the eight available slots on the field to defeat your enemies.

Heroes are associated with a race that deals increased or decreased damage to a complementary race in classic elemental ‘Fire is weak to Water’ fashion, as shown in the top left of the image above.

Your team will consist of tanks, healers, and DPS units. The usual Crowd Control (CC), buffs, and debuffs will be the make and break of your team composition, where synergizing buffs with team damage or damage mitigation will be essential to winning battles. This is nothing new to the auto-chess game genre.

It does, however, feel like the elemental type advantage makes a huge difference in your team’s success, thus creating different team compositions a vital part of your strategy, which I find thoroughly enjoyable.

It always bores me when a strategy game has one or two meta-team compositions that will see you through the rest of the game.

How fast or slow is the progression?

After playing SOULS for a while, compared to many other Gacha games, the progression is certainly more fast-paced and satisfying. You’re always making progress every time you log on after a short while in various parts of the game.

As with every Gacha game, progression is rapid and fast in the beginning, then slows down incredibly as you progress further in the game, with a few breakpoints that allow for a surge in progression (usually based on lucky summons).

There are a few ways to ensure your progression maintains steadiness.

Due to the different challenges and enemy compositions you face throughout the game, you can get past many hurdles by changing your team composition using the Soul Link system displayed in the image above. This allows the levels of a select number of Heroes to match the lowest leveled Hero of the party.

Changing your team composition is crucial so that your team has a type advantage. It also helps to sub out damage-dealing DPS units for healers/tanks (and vice versa) depending on the enemy’s abilities, so clearing stages during a struggle feels very much earned.

Dailies, Campaign and Milestone Rewards

Two of the NPC in the menu offer campaign and milestone rewards, respectively, so that you always have an objective to work towards for resources you can apply to your team, along with a flying companion that generates idle rewards to collect when you return to the game.

VIP Privilege

Now, this obviously wouldn’t be a mobile Gacha game with any VIP Privilege. For all the whales out there that love to spend a lot of money

You must complete the daily missions as these reward VIP points, granting you additional rewards when you complete certain game activities. The only other way to increase VIP is to spend real money on the game.

Should You Spend Money On SOULS?

If you’re considering spending money on SOULS, I suggest purchasing either the Monthly Pass or the Advanced Pass.

I have purchased both, which has made an incredible difference to my game progression!

Advanced Pass

The Advances Pass is cheaper than the Premium Monthly Pass. The rewards are based on your current account level, increasing the resources you can obtain as you level up your account.

Part of this pass gives you free rewards, and the game will direct you to collect them once they become available. The advanced pass is the best way to obtain Epic Heroes very early in your journey, as you will earn a bunch of gems plus Epic Hero fragments used to boost your account instantly.

Unlike the monthly pass, which you can renew, once you have received the rewards offered by the Advanced Pass, you can never obtain them again.

Monthly Pass

The Monthly Pass is a standard monthly pass that gives you gems and summoning crystals each day for a month, which is very good for upgrading your team quickly if you’ve just started playing.

Premium Monthly Pass

There is also a Premium Monthly Pass, which is much more expensive but increases your daily rewards. However, the main reason for purchasing this pass is to obtain a whopping 6x game speed, which is INSANE for progression.

With the Premium Monthly Pass, you can spend more time planning your team between fights instead of waiting for game animations. As somebody who enjoys the pure strategy of Gacha games, this is an absolute no-brainer.

Other Purchases

Compared to many other Gacha games in the market, SOULS is rather generous with its return on investment with rewards, so you feel like you are getting your money’s worth. As a whale (someone who spends a lot of money on games),

I suggest only purchasing gems that are part of a pack of rewards if offered for a one-time cheap deal.

For example, there are cheap discounted packages for new starters, which are very affordable and provide generous rewards.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the game we’ve explored in this blog post offers a truly delightful and calming experience for players. Its simplicity in mechanics, coupled with captivating and creatively designed characters, makes it an engaging and enjoyable journey from start to finish.

The seamless performance of the game ensures that players can fully immerse themselves without interruption. Furthermore, the well-balanced difficulty levels keep the gameplay accessible and enjoyable for a wide range of players.

The visually stunning art and soothing music add an extra layer of enchantment to this gaming adventure.

In sum, this game effortlessly earns a brilliant 4.5/5 rating in the Gacha/Auto-chess genre, making it an absolute must-play for anyone seeking a serene and enjoyable gaming experience.
