Mercenaries are very useful companions that can help provide bonus stats to your character.
To hire the mercenary, you must talk to the NPC standing close to training dummies and purchase it for 10,000 crystals.
Mercenaries share the same level as your hero with their talent tree. If your hero is level 50, your mercenary will be level 50 and have 50 talent points to spend.
While leveling, mercenaries can provide the extra DPS boost and utility to make your leveling experience much faster and smoother. If you want to know how to level quickly in Hero Siege, click this link.
Generally speaking, it is more important to use a mercenary talent point that will benefit your hero rather than our mercenary because your hero will be dealing most of the damage, and your best chance of survivability is to buff your hero as much as possible.
They have special abilities and provide passive attributes such as damage, extra health regeneration, or an increased chance of stunning foes and bosses.
There are 3 different types of mercenaries to choose from, which can be hired from various towns across Hero Siege, each with its skill tree.
Gearing Mercenaries
Magic Find% & Exp Gain% equipped on your mercenary will contribute to your hero’s magic find and exp gain, so trying and starting these properties on your mercenary is essential.
Once a mercenary dies, you must pay 10,000 crystals to revive it.
To prevent them from dying, you must gear mercenaries with suitable defenses.
Knight (Act 1 – Town of Inoya)
The 1st mercenary you will find is the Knight, located in the Town of Inoya.
Knights are very useful for:
- Health regeneration
- Taunting enemies (Only works for enemies visible on the screen and not the entire map)
- Stunning enemies
- Damage Return (when teasing)
- Armor Break
Archer (Act 3 – Village of Mos’Arathim)
The 2nd mercenary is the Archer, located in the Village of Mos’Arathim.
Archers are helpful for:
- Life per hit
- Passive attack speed bonus
- Breaking enemy resistance
It is crucial to increase the attack speed of the Archer so that you have a higher chance of breaking enemy resistances, significantly increasing your damage output.
Most other archer talents benefit from the damage of the Archer and not your hero.
Magister (Act 6 – Dawn’s Chapel)
The 3rd mercenary you will find is the Magister, located in the Dawn’s Chapel.
Magisters are helpful for:
- Attack absorption
- Chance to reset hero cooldowns and buffing ability power
- Increase maximum mana and mana regen
- Chance to buff player and Magister ability power
Conclusion
Most of your combat power will come from your hero, so players tend to find the Archer somewhat useless.
Knights are very useful for crowd control, mainly as a ranged class so that mobs can be grouped up together for you to AoE (Area of Effect) them down using your most potent spells.
This also ensures that you can auto-attack in the same direction and never miss instead of constantly changing directions.
Magisters are incredibly useful when pushing more challenging content as they can protect you from taking a lot of damage, which could kill you instantly.
This is most useful if you are a class that is heavily reliant on using mana for damage and protection so you can continue to spam (repeatedly use) your abilities without running out of mana.
